Cleveland Style--Winter Cool

Cleveland is very gray and dreary in the winter. (If you live in a cold climate you might have the same problem!) I ran into this woman at a restaurant and had to feature her because I loved her vintage inspired coat. Here's a fact you might not know about me: I have an obsession with coats. I have over 50 in my collection. So, I am always checking out other people's coats. Here, I love that this woman managed to stay warm and still look very chic!

Cleveland Style--Cool Professional

Ken is an advertising executive for the Cleveland Plain Dealer newspaper. I ran into him while he was on a sales call and had to feature him because I liked his look: business casual, but totally professional and cool looking! I thought his scarf added a real flair!!

Cleveland Style--Business Casual

I was having my car serviced this week and thought these two salespeople at the Ganley VW dealership looked great. I liked Elizabeth's bright pop of color around her waist and I thought Jonathan looked very smart in his suit with a basic black tee underneath. I decided to highlight them this week, because I think they are both really good examples of the trend towards business casual in the workplace and how it can be done really well. (and I have seen many many examples of when it decidedly does not work!) Both Jonathan and Elizabeth told me that in their particular field, it actually helps when they dress business casual because of the negative stereotypes that have plagued the car industry. They said it makes them appear more approachable. I couldn't agree more!! (By the way, if you live in the Cleveland area, Jonathan is new to the area and single!!!)

Cleveland Style--Modern Maturity

I ran into this grandmother of two at the Disney Princesses on Ice Show and just had to feature her. I thought she looked really sharp and well dressed and I really admire that she obviously took the time to put together a great outfit, even though she was just with her grandkids.

Cleveland Style--Flaunting your Shape

I am a firm believer that pregnant women should flaunt their new shape rather than hide it. With all the cute pregnancy clothing out there now, there is just no excuse to be wearing overalls, your husband's t-shirts, or tent dresses. All of them should be permanently banned from a pregnancy wardrobe. I came across Morgan here, an office manager, who is 6 months pregnant. I thought she looked fabulous. Full leg grey pants, a black fitted shirt and a really cute sequined scarf/belt. Simple, still elegant. What a cute way to flaunt her new shape!

Cleveland Style--Mama Style

One of my major complaints about SAHM's is the lack of style that often accompanies them. So, I was happy to see this SAHM at the grocery store looking casual yet still fashionable. Jeans, layered t-shirts, corduroy blazer and really cute boots that looked comfortable too. SAHM's, take note. It takes just as much time to throw on an outfit like this as sweatpants!!

New Features for 2007

For the new year, I am going to add some new features to this blog. First, because there are just so many cool and interesting websites and blogs on the internet now, I am going to feature a "Cool Site of the Week." This could be any site that I find interesting and not necessarily related to fashion or beauty. So, if you know of a cool site that I should check out...please let me know!! Next, since Cleveland gets such a bad name, I am going to show you that real people of all ages and shapes have style in Cleveland. I am hoping to make this a weekly feature. These will be photos of people that I meet or chance upon who I think have great style.
