Erase 5-10 Years!

I don't obsess about wrinkles, but I am 38 now, and I definitely notice my "fine lines" (who ever came up with the word "fine" to describe wrinkles?). I really hate all the bogus claims that the cosmetic companies make about erasing wrinkles with their miracle potions. I came across the article "Makeup Tricks that Erase 10 Years" on Total Beauty and had to share it. Unlike the miracle creams that never deliver, these are some pretty simple ways to enhance the youthful look of your face while diminishing the look of those lines. The pretty striking before-and-after pictures illustrate the common mistakes that older women make with their makeup. The first one really jumped out at me, because I do use shimmery shadow on my lids. I was amazed at the picture and how the model really looked so much better with a matte shadow on her lids! I also cringed at the lipstick vs. gloss picture because I do love my colored lipsticks! Ah, the dilemma!! Click HERE to see the full article and get some more tips!

Oxidize Your Skin

I have been feeling so tired lately, and it has been showing in my face...dark circles, shallow complexion. So when I saw that the Triple Oxygen Instant Energizing Mask by Bliss Labs just won the "2008 Best of Sephora," I just had to try it. Inspired by Bliss Spa's most-famous facial, it supposedly releases extra amounts of oxygen into your skin, which will give your skin energy and instantly make you look younger, like an "eleven year old." Now, I don't know if there is any scientific proof that the product increased my oxygen levels (how would you even check that??), and I certainly don't look like a pre-teen, but I will say that I really like this treatment and it did make skin feel glow-y and healthy! Simple and fun to use, I used two pumps of the liquid and applied it all over my damp face. After a few seconds on my skin, it formed a thick bubbly froth that tingled ever so slightly. I washed it off after five minutes and my skin felt really clean and fresh. The scent is nice too, very mild, slightly citrus-y. This is especially great to use after a workout because of the invigorating feeling it leaves on the skin (in fact, I have been using it 3 times a week after my runs!). $52 for a 3.4 ounce bottle, but a little goes a long way...I haven't even made a dent in my bottle!

Pony Tails

I wear my hair in a pony tail a lot. Having to get 2 kids ready for school every morning, I just do not have enough time to get dressed, do my makeup, AND do my hair. Total Beauty has a great article that shows some really pretty pony tail styles that are not your basic ponytail and don't look too hard to duplicate. I am going to try a few this week. My favorite is the look by Ashley Simpson, sexy and chic, but still simple! Check out more styles HERE.

Cool Site of the Week--Total Beauty

I love Total Beauty because they always have interesting and fun articles to read. Many of them are great tutorials on how to look better (and with suggestions for products) but I also love their latest article on Celebrity Oops! Horrible Hairstyles. It just makes me feel better in the morning when I am rushing off to work, not enough time to do my hair, to know that it often takes a team of stylists to make them look good, and, probably only themselves when it goes horribly, horribly wrong! Check out the list HERE....which is your favorite horrible do?

Easy Breezy Hair

I have long hair (not Crystal Gayle long, but past the shoulder) and I have to admit that I am in a total rut lately. I just don't have the time in the morning to dry it and style it like I would like...so I just throw it back. I came across this article on Total Beauty and thought it gave some great easy and low key tips that I can do other than just a basic ponytail. 17 styles that take less than 10 minutes is a great guide that has great photographs and easy to follow steps so you can achieve the same look. These are a few of my favorites...but you can check out more styles HERE including lots of ideas for short hair too.
